DANVERS- M. Elaine Geist, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was the wife of the late James L. Geist, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Born on September 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas S. Bravos and Yolanda (Tortolini) Bravos of Lynn. A Graduate from Lynn English High School and later the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, Elaine began a career as an administrative assistant in the Engineering Department at General Electric Company in Lynn. Elaine also was the librarian at Saint John’s Preparatory School in Danvers. She later turned her attention to art and painting where she studied under local artists, then enrolled at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. As a prolific artist and art dealer, Elaine owned and operated The Bravos Arts Gallery in Gloucester and Georgetown. Elaine leaves her sister, Janet Guerette and husband Donald of Danvers, three of her four sons, Dan and his wife Carol of Boxborough, Tim of Pembroke, NH and Ron and his wife Paula of Danvers. She also is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Geist of Litchfield, NH and nine grandchildren, Jason and his wife Andrea, Liz, Laurel, Lucy, Ariel, Nick, Alex, Heather, and Rosemary. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary and his wife Mary of Alexandria, VA. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery, Haverhill. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in in Elaine’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
