John F. Drapala

John F. Drapala, 92, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home in Danvers following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Hisgen) Drapala, with whom he shared over seventy years of marriage.
Born in Edwardsville, PA on March 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Konefal) Drapala. He was raised and educated in Dixon City, PA and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Drapala, a longtime resident of Malden, was employed for many years by Congress Rubber of Malden.
A longtime member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Malden, he had been a member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church since moving to Danvers seventeen years ago. He enjoyed playing chess and doing masonry work. He was a loving and devoted grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Charles Drapala of Danvers and Joseph Drapala and his wife Ann Marie of Attleboro, two grandsons, Roderick Drapala of Danvers and Eric Drapala of Attleboro, a sister, Nellie Remis of New York, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Jayne Drapala.
His Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11AM in the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Drapala’s name may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
