John R. Dolan

John R. Dolan, 90, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Lois (Burkhart) Dolan and the late Barbara (Collins) (Gleason) Dolan.
Born in Salem on April 20, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Tierney) Dolan. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a 1943 graduate of Saint John’s Preparatory School. He attended Boston College and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Jack had a successful career at EG&G Inc. for 30 years. He joined the corporate staff in 1963 and rose to the post of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1986. Prior to that he worked for CBS Electronics & Dolan Tanning Company in Peabody.
A longtime Danvers resident, he was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church and had been a member of the former Catholic Mr. & Mrs. Club in Danvers.
Jack is survived by his five beloved children, Maryellen Dolan of Salem, Geraldine Dolan of Swampscott, Dorothy Dolan of Danvers, John Dolan and his wife Christine of Swampscott, and Peter Dolan and his wife Katie of Little Compton, RI, his step-children, Jan Rogers and her husband Chuck of Winchester, Virginia, Barry Gleason and his wife Mary Ellen of Cape Elizabeth, ME, David Gleason and his wife Amy of Concord, and Julie Doyle and her husband Andy of Northborough, his sister, Nancy Dolan of Boston, twenty one grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will be private. My sincere sympathy to all of you on your fathers passing your mother and father were close friends and we had many happy times in our early years. I still think of each one of you on your birthday.
