Edith L. Manning

Edith L. (Parks) Manning, 93, died Sunday evening, September 25, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Boston on Nov. 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Augusta (Belliveau) Parks. She was raised and educated in Chestnut Hill and was a graduate of Brookline High School and worked for the War Department during WWII.
Over the years, she made her home in Salem, Swampscott, Lynn, and most recently Beverly. She loved reading, all types of music, horseracing, and seafood. She was stylish, an art lover, and a Yankee fan.
She leaves her children, Carol Nylander and her husband Simo of CA, James Manning and his wife Juliet of MS, Thomas Manning of Roslindale, Robert Manning and his wife Kim of Newburyport, Gerald Manning of Beverly, and William Manning of Bedford, her siblings, Lucy Keith and Alfred Parks, her grandchildren, Lara, Matti, Sean, Jennifer, Erin, Julie, and Aaron, her great-grandchildren, Axel, Rowen, Owen, Ava, Hunter, and Kennedy, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, John Manning, and her sisters, Ann Carlson, Ruth Mooney, and Eva Johnson.
Her funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-7PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edith’s name may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
Edie will be deeply missed by so many. She could light up any room and she did with her warm smile and positive attitude. She was always fun to be around. I will always remember her for that. She was an inspiration to me. My sympathies to her family. Rest in peace Edie… Love, Elayne.
