Roy H. Hemmingsen

Roy H. Hemmingsen, 83, died Friday at the Hunt Nursing & Rehab. Center in Danvers. He was the beloved husband of Evangeline (Spaneas) (Georgaklis) Hemmingsen, with whom he shared nearly forty years of marriage. Born in Tromso, Norway on Jan. 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Noralf and Svanhild Hemmingsen. He was raised and educated in Norway and as a young man went to sea and spent his career in the Merchant Marine. A Danvers resident for many years, Roy and his wife spent twenty years residing in Holiday, Florida following their retirement. They recently returned to reside in the area. Roy loved life and was a wonderful dancer. He will be missed by his loving wife and family. In Addition to his wife, he leaves his stepchildren, Charles Georgaklis of Hampton, NH, Diane McNulty of Salem, Christine Georgaklis and her husband John Pensak of Kingston, NH, and Stephen Georgaklis of Gloucester, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ana May and Lil. His Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
