Bryan J. Chafe, 70, died Monday morning, March 27, 2017 at his home in Beverly. Born in Beverly on November 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Louise (Sciucco) Chafe. Bryan was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1964. A longtime Danvers resident, he had resided in Beverly for the last ten years. Bryan owned and operated the former Something Else Skateboard Shop in Danvers Square for many years. He leaves two children, Cristin Rose of Arlington, VT and Nicholas Chafe of New York City, a grandson, Shayne, his former wife and dear friend, Jannice Ellen of Manchester, VT, his brother, Gordon Chafe of Danvers, and his sisters, Rochelle Hale and Brenda Maxner of Beverly and Luanne LeBlanc of Danvers. Funeral Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bryan’s name may be made to the Mass Audubon Society, 208 South Great Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773.

I lived on cherry st as a kid in the late 90s and all the kids in the neighborhood used to go to something else everyday. just to look at boards and shoes, buy stickers and patches and talk to the old guy who worked there (Bryan) I remember learning new tricks and stopping in to tell him. They used to set up ramps in the parking lot and skate early mournings on the weekend and I watched as a young kid from my apartment window. Skateboarding was a huge part of my life and still is and something else skateshop
