DANVERS- Ruth J. (Janes) Rockett, 97, passed away following a very brief illness on September 19, 2017. She was the devoted and adored wife of the late William A. Rockett. Born on May 15, 1920 in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Susan (McDermott) Janes. She was a longtime resident of Danvers. She was a graduate of Holten High School. Ruth earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University and enjoyed teaching in the town of Danvers, mainly at Highlands Elementary School, for over 20 years. She enjoyed skiing, writing and reading, and together with her late husband, has traveled extensively across the world. Ruth is survived by her son, Brian Rockett and his wife Helaine, of Danvers, and her daughter, Judy Kuhtreiber and her husband Willem, of Shrewsbury, her daughter-in-law Jean Daly Rockett, six grandchildren, Janelle Rockett and Katie Rockett, Elizabeth Rockett, Michael Rockett, Kara Rene and James Kuhtreiber and three great grandchildren, Emily, Jacob and Aiden Snyder. She was predeceased by her beloved son Mark Rockett, her granddaughter Kristin Rockett Snyder and her siblings Robert Janes, Leonard Janes and Alison Kanski. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are Friday, September 29th from 4-7Pm at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
