Arlene J. Bettencourt

DANVERS- Arlene J. Bettencourt, 93, passed away in her home on October 9, 2017. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Bettencourt. Born in Peabody on October 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Mooney) Canniff. She was graduated from Saint Chretienne Academy. Arlene had been a Danvers resident for over 70 years, where she raised family. She loved to travel and knit. Many of her family have cherished pieces that were knitted, just for them. Arlene also volunteered for many years as a greeter at the former Hunt Hospital. Arlene’s family would like to thank Martha Daniels, Kris Berry, Hege Osebakk, Dee Thompson and Lisa Koehler, for the special care and comfort they gave Arlene. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Stephen Vesey of Danvers and son and daughter-in-law Mark and Georgia Bettencourt of Danvers, daughter-in-law Annette Bettencourt of York, ME, her grandchildren, Sean Dunn, Jennifer Flynn, Ryan Dunn, Courtney Conroy and Jeffrey, Ashley and Jesse Bettencourt, her great grandchildren, Brittany, Emma, Zachery, Delani, Lila, Anne and Benjamin. She was predeceased by two sons, Dr. Paul E. Bettencourt and Kevin S. Bettencourt. Arlene’s funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Arlene’s name to the VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center Suite G500, Woburn, MA 01801.
