Walter W. Woodbury

Walter W. Woodbury, 95, died Monday morning, February 19, 2018 at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Edna (Milbury) Woodbury, with whom he shared sixty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on Dec. 8, 1922, he was the son of the late George and Jessie Woodbury. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a longtime Saugus resident who had resided in Beverly for the last several years.
An honorably discharged veteran of World War II, Walter served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army and participated in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
He was employed by General Electric at both the Everett and River Works plants, retiring after 44 years.
A Master Mason, he was a member of the Bethlehem Lodge for more than fifty years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He leaves four children, Wayne Woodbury and his wife Judith of Danvers, Gary Woodbury of Texas, Robin Zukowski and her husband David of Chelmsford, and Paul Woodbury of Texas, his grandchildren, Lisa, Katelyn, Steven, James, Leah, Joshua, and Holly, his great-grandchildren, Timothy, Parker, Logan, and Brayleigh, a brother, Alfred Woodbury of Texas, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
His Funeral Service will be Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
