Mary C. Kenny, 89, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Rosewood Rehab & Nursing Center in Peabody, twenty-four years to the day from the death of her beloved husband, Joseph F. Kenny. She was born in Boston to Marie (McNeil) and Andrew McCormack shortly after they arrived from Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. After twelve years of parochial school at Saint Patrick’s in Roxbury, she had many stories, her own version of Nunsense. While Mary was running the records department at Children’s Hospital, she frequently had lunch at the store of her adopted aunt, Mary Pike. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joseph Kenny, with whom she shared forty years of marriage. After living in Bedford for more than thirty-five years, Mary moved to Danvers after Joe’s death in 1994. She met her wonderful neighbors walking her beloved Molly and later Charlotte. Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan Kenny-Welch (Norman, deceased) of Florida and Denise Kenny (Bert Lawton) of Danvers. She also leaves her godson and nephew, Paul McCormick, her nephew Brian (Wendy) McCormick, and nice Kathleen (Robert) White. She was predeceased by her brother, James McCormick. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. While we were not family by blood, we were family by love. There are so many memories that I cannot even begin to share them all! After my Mom died, I found her diary. There was an entry in 1968 that says “Mrs. Mary Kenny babysat Mark last night…..we like her very much…she said that her mother Marie will be able to babysit Mark whenever we need her to…’ who knew that would last for 16 years? You, “Nana”, Joe, Uncle Jim, Denise and Susan always made me feel that I WAS ‘family’. I remember years ago when I came to visit you one Saturday afternoon and you told me “You are the son we never had….” You all shaped my life in ways that I cannot put into words…….While the world has lost an amazing woman, heaven has gained a new angel……Love always, Mark
