Carol B. Hall

Carol Bateman Hall, 92, passed away on July 21, 2018 at her home of 15 years in Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA.
Born on March 9, 1926 in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Northridge) Bateman, who both emigrated from Clonakilty, Ireland. Carol completed high school and received a degree from UMass in home economics. She met her late husband, Francis William Hall, at a UMass dance while he was on leave as a captain and jet fighter pilot in the Army Air Force. They were married for 63 years, had 4 children, and were active in Needham’s Carter Memorial Methodist Church. They purchased the 1885 home where her mother-in-law was born on Morse Island, Friendship, ME. Carol spent her summers there while her children grew up and ran a boat, used kerosene lamps and an outhouse, and drew water from a well. This home became the heart of the family.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Hall, Thomas W. Hall, and Jonathan Hall, her grandchildren, Erica J. Hall, Andrew T. Hall, Christina M. Hall, Cameron J.J. Hall, and Margaret K. Hall, her great-grandchildren, Sadie Hall and Sofia Hall, and her daughters-in-law, Sarah Vernlund, Ellen Hall, and Noreen Hall. She was predeceased in 1996 by her son Jeffrey J. Hall.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody.
