Bruce Addor

Bruce Addor, 87, passed away at home surrounded by family at his home in Peabody, MA on September 3, 2018, Labor Day morning, after a long illness. Born in Somerville on Dec. 30, 1930, he was raised there and then spent 4 years in the US Navy, and worked for over 40 years at Blake & Rebhan Stationers in Boston, first as a salesman, then becoming a partner and Treasurer. Marrying his sweetheart, Marcia Taylor, in 1960 after a 5 year courtship, Bruce and Marcia built a home in Burlington, MA where they had two children, Lisa and Michael. Family and friends especially enjoyed spending summers at the Addors' cottage "up country" at Sunrise Lake in NH, and the family lovingly recalls so many vacations, including so many ski trips in the winter and beautiful autumn picnics along the Kancamagus. After Marcia passed away, he was lucky to have a second chance at love with sister-in-law Honey Taylor (Marcia's brother's widow). They shared many wonderful times in Florida and driving up the East Coast. The love and care Honey (and daughter, Fern) so selflessly gave to Bruce is the main reason he survived another 4+ years. Our entire family is forever grateful to the Taylors (and the extended family, including Tom Styczko, Eda/Gene/David Nichols, and so many others who loved Bruce) for providing the best possible life in his sunset years. A dedicated husband, brother, father, grandfather, boss and friend, Bruce was generous, level-headed and had the best sense of humor. He was a mentor, hero and best friend to his two children and three grandchildren. You are missed but will always be with us! RIP Bruce was predeceased by older siblings, Blair Addor and Joyce Andersen, and is survived by younger sister Nancy Crowther of Billerica, children Lisa Leslie (of Cocoa, FL) and Mike Addor (Brighton, MI), Lisa Leslie's fiancé, Todd Felege, daughter-in-law Gretchen Addor, grandchildren, Cate, Luke and Sami, and the incredible love of his Honey Taylor and niece/2nd daughter Fern Taylor. Bruce was also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with all of his extended family, wonderful friends, neighbors and workmates who touched Bruce's life and were touched by this remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Bruce's memory to either the Alzheimer's Foundation (alzfdn.org) or the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org). A celebration of the life of Bruce Addor will be scheduled at a future date.
