Barbara G. McCarthy

DANVERS- It is with sad hearts and loving memories that the family of Barbara G. McCarthy announces her passing on December 20, 2018 at Sutton Hill Nursing Center, North Andover. Barbara was the loving wife of the late Thomas J. McCarthy, Jr., with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Danvers on November 20, 1923, Barbara was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Strout) Nangle. Barbara was a kind and loving lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid golfer, still hitting the links at 90. Traveling was another of Barbara’s joys. She and her husband, Tom, traveled throughout the Northeast, Canada and Bermuda, usually finding a golf course to play. Left to cherish Barbara’s memory is her adored sister, Mrs. Shirley Sherry of Danvers, her two loving sons, David and his wife, Maryanne of Peabody and Thomas and his wife, Maura of Danvers, her devoted grandchildren, James McCarthy and his wife Ashley, Meghan McCarthy, Erin McCarthy, Cara McCarthy O’Connor and her husband, James and also Barbara’s great grandson, Tommy O’Connor. Barbara’s family will receive friends and family on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 8:30AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers, followed by her Funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 9AM in the church. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Compassus Hospice, 790 Turnpike St., Suite 301, N. Andover, MA, 01845.
