PEABODY- Joseph J. Macrina, 95, passed away on September 25, 2019 in the Edith Nourse Rodgers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Polito) Macrina. Born in East Boston on July 2, 1924, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Carolina (Testa) Macrina. He served our country during WWII with the United States Army and was honorably discharged. While stationed in Europe he aided in rounding up German prisoners and marched them into Berlin. After the military he enrolled in Mass Trade shops and learned Radio and TV repair. His first job was at Jordan Marsh Company in Boston. He later went on to DeMambro's Sound and Service in Boston to manage their stereo system repairs and Language Lab Sound Systems. Joseph joined the US Post Office, South Boston Annex as repair technician of the conveyor systems until retirement in 1993. Joseph enjoyed playing his key board; he played often at Peabody Senior Center. He loved spending time at the beach, including Plum Island, Hampton Beach and Ogunquit Beach in Maine. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James Macrina and Cassandra Reich of Loveland, Colorado and his daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Macrina and Guillermo Angel of Bogoto, Colombia; his grandchildren, Christi Grimm, Felicia Macrina, Joseph Macrina, Melissa Monnier, Roger Smith, Laura Angel and Claudia Angel Macrina, great grandchildren, Maryilyn Macrina, Lucia Macrina, Enzo Macrina, Hazel Grimm, Jonah Roulin and Lily Monnier and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Frank and Nicky Macrina, Isabel Merchant, Louise Concanon, Jenny Parette, Francis Nuraska. His Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visitation will be held from 10AM-10:45AM prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Joseph’s name to North Shore Elder Services, 300 Rosewood Dr Suite 200, Danvers, MA, 01923.
