I’m sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. As a kid from Henry Ave he was my friends “older” brother but I remember how he was always working on cars. I still see the Steve I knew in his picture all these years later although I remember long black hair in the day. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
When we were apprentices at GE we played on the same softball team at GE field. Steve and Jeff Sano ran into each other in the outfield trying to catch a deep fly ball. It sounded like someone hitting a hanging side of beef with a 2×4. I called Steve “Rocky” ever since then. He was a good friend. Sorry for your loss.

Met Steve many years ago at GE when he purchased a ’55 T-Bird from at mutual friend at the plant. Although we didn’t work together we did bowl on the same team in the GE ten pin league. Neither of us bowled in the normal method, i.e. with finesse, but hurled the 16# ball at the pins at the speed of sound. Much to the other guys’ dismay it worked for us and our averages. Upon his retirement he still had the T-Bird so he joined with us local T-Bird guys and started it’s much needed rebuilding – a job most people wouldn’t even think of starting. Unfortunately he didn’t finish it but while it was in process he exhibited his large amount of varied talents at what he was doing. He was a true “car guy” of which few are left. I will miss my friend Steve, his smile and his good and helpful nature.
