Evelyn J. (Boudreau) Durkee, 86, died Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick Durkee, with whom she shared over forty years of marriage. Born in Salem on December 22, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Jean) Boudreau. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a 1950 graduate of Salem High School. For nearly thirty years, Evelyn was employed at Hotwatt in Danvers and then for seven years at San-tron in Ipswich. She was a longtime resident of both Topsfield and Groveland and then made her home at Oak Knoll in Middleton following the death of her husband. A dedicated volunteer, she spent countless hours at the Thrift Shop in Hamilton. She enjoyed traveling, baking, painting, decoupage, and spending time with her beloved family. She leaves two children, Noreen Durkee and Dana Durkee, both of Haverhill, five grandchildren, Adam Durkee, Andrew Durkee, Alexandra Arbor, Heather Poock, and Melissa Poock, three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cyr, Brooke Arbor, and Mason Arbor, and several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be Friday, October 18, 2019 at noon in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Wadsworth Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-6PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Assoc., 72 E Concord St, Boston, MA 02118.
