DANVERS- formerly of Somerville, Daniel J. Leonard, 81, passed away surrounded by his family on November 13, 2019. He was husband of the late Carol (Flynn) Leonard and the late Dorothy (McCoy) Leonard. Born in Somerville on March 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Lucille (Johnson) Leonard. Daniel graduated from Burlington High School. He had a career as a carpenter and was the owner and operator of Dan Leonard Remodeling; serving the Middlesex and Essex counties. Daniel was extremely active. He enjoyed Tae Kwon Do, he was a marathoner, and loved nature and hiking in the White Mountains. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed visiting the local library. He is survived by four children, Daniel Leonard and his wife, Susan of Malden, Edward Leonard of Danvers, Rebecca Allione and her husband, Joseph of Danvers, Susan McDonnell and her husband, Terrence of Newbury, his step-children, Richard Gaudette of OR, Timothy Gaudette and his wife, Marjorie of N. Andover and Christopher Gaudette and his wife, Dara of WA, his sister, Judith Walsh of Revere, his grandchildren, Janson, Kevin, Steven, Sean, Meghan, Jenny, Joey and Eleanor, his step-grandchildren, Kayla and Alison. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Leonard and his siblings, Leo and James Leonard, Mary Jo Cabral, Alice McCarthy, Geraldine Cidado, Delphine Cabrel and Sister Lucy, S.N.C. His Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High St, Medford. Relatives and friends are invited. The burial is private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Daniel’s name to the Friends of the Peabody Institute Library, 15 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
