Robert L. Burnett

December 16, 1962 ~ January 6, 2020
Robert Lennox Burnett, 57, of Danvers, died Monday, January 6, 2020 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was the loving husband of Meredith (Brecher) Burnett, with whom he shared nearly nineteen years of marriage.
Born in Salem on Dec. 16, 1962, he was the son of Priscilla (Sweeney) (Burnett) Kirlin of Florida and the late James Burnett. He was raised and educated in Danvers and Beverly and was a 1980 graduate of Beverly High School. He went on to North Shore Community College where he earned his degree in radiology technology.
He worked at Beverly Hospital for many years where he was a clinical instructor and then at Mass General Hospital where he was the Technical Manager of the Radiology Department.
Bob was an avid golfer, enjoyed hikes with his family and dogs and always had a quick wit - he was the life of any party.
His passion was finding a way to help others in whatever capacity he could. More than anything however he was selflessly devoted to his family, especially his wife and sons whom he cherished so much.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves two beloved sons, Jacob Lennox Burnett and Ethan Tyler Burnett, both of Danvers, his step-mother, Rena Burnett of NH, his step-father, Peter Kirlin of FL, two sisters, his twin Robin Burnett DiMeo of Florida and Shannon Wedge of NH, three brothers, Sean Burnett of Peabody, Jamie Burnett of NH, and Reno Burnett of NH, his mother-in-law, Ann Brecher of Hamilton, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family member and dear friends.
Visiting hours will be Monday, January 13, 2020 from 5-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. At Bob’s request, please come dressed casually to share laughter and memories. Those who wish may also come with a written memory of Bob that will be collected and shared with his sons. For a while now I’ve been thinking of Bob and working with him during my days at Beverly Hospital. Here it is around 3am and I thought I’d look him up, never did I expect to see this.
I’m so very sorry for his family. Bob was a great friend, a pleasure to work with, always so happy and kind. Regardless of how bad your day was going his smile always cheered you up. I’m sorry to hear he is gone but he leaves us all with such fond memories of a wonderful man. I’m glad I was fortunate to have known him. Hugs to his family. My prayers are with you.
