William Gray

PEABODY- William Gray, Jr., passed away on February 14, 2020 in Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy (Lee) Gray.
Born in Salem on February 13, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Althea (Phippen) Gray. William was raised and educated in Danvers and attended St. John’s Preparatory School before enlisting with the United States Navy 1945. He served our country with the United States Navy and then reenlisted with the United States Army in 1948. He was honorably discharged when he was disabled in 1951 and was awarded a Purple Heart. William had a 30 year career as a bus driver for Michaud Bus Lines. He enjoyed traveling and was a Civil War buff.
He is survived by his children, Jean Starr of Ashland, Donna Johnson of Hudson, New Hampshire and Charles Bailey of Danvers, his grandchildren, Christopher, Ana, Andrew, Curtis, Caleb, Emma and Laura. He was predeceased by his son, William Gray III and his brother, Robert Gray.
The internment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. His funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in William’s name to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org
