  8. James Grigg

    Dear Lynda,

My sincere condolences to you for this great loss of Jim. I’m glad to
    have met you.

I knew James Grigg as a strong and courageous person. He was
a man of principles, sincerely humble and considerate with
    compassion, openness and great capabilities.

A published poet, he was a member of our Veterans Writing Workshop
for a number of years and a generous supporter of Veterans and the other
writers in our workshop. We were blessed with his poems in the meeting
room of Cape Ann Veterans Services which he shared with us and with a
number of audiences in Gloucester, Lowell, Western MA and elsewhere.

One time I was leaving a flyer for our workshop in the new Veterans Clinic
on Main St. in Gloucester, and I noticed one of his poems framed against the
wall in their meeting room. I told the receptionist that I knew him. She said,
“He is a very talented poet.”

His work spoke truths that needed to be heard with deep feeling and an
affecting musical sense. He will not be forgotten, he will be missed.
