Dorothy M. Bell

April 22, 1942 ~ March 22, 2020
Dorothy M. Bell, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2020, in Danvers surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 22, 1942 in Peabody to Albert and Helen (Cassidy) Bell. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1960 and enjoyed a successful career at Peabody Municipal Light. After retiring, she was employed by Babies-R-Us for 10 years and was a crossing guard at Great Oak Elementary School in Danvers - where she enjoyed the children like they were her own.
Dottie was known to all as “Auntie” and loved that everyone called her that. She loved listening to oldies and country music on her vintage radio that she took everywhere. Auntie lived a full life with her family and enjoyed bowling, skiing, dining out, cruises, and vacationing at Sebago Lake. Her daily game shows and soap operas were her favorites to watch. The Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots and her pets rounded out the rest of her spare time.
Auntie loved and was loved by so many. She is survived by her sister Joanne and brother-in-law Carlton Berry, niece Diane Berry Harvey, nephews Alan Berry, William Berry and his wife Phyllis, and Carl Berry and his wife Cindy. Her god daughter/great niece Cara Harvey Curtis and 8 other great nieces and nephews, 11 great-great nieces and nephews who were all the pride of her life.
Funeral arrangements have been postponed until loved ones can gather and celebrate her wonderful life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dottie’s memory to Maddie’s Cure (Angelman Syndrome Foundation – Aunties Great-Great Niece) www.MaddiesCure.com or/mail to: 9 Carolyn Dr. Danvers or Northeast Animal Shelter Memorial/Tribute Donation https://www.northeastanimalshelter.org/donations/memorialtribute-donation/?msource=DX20.
Dottie touched the lives of all that knew her in some way.
I worked with Dottie for a number of years at Babies…and our shift was never boring when Dottie was on…it would always make my day in some way. She was always kind and respectful to me…but, didn’t hesitate to voice a difference of opinion…I loved her more for her genuine honesty…and also…how she would make us laugh…wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile!
My deepest condolences to Family…
Prayers Dottie rest in eternal light and peace 🙏🏻
Love you, Dottie Bell
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing such lovely photos.
I am going to miss you and the good times we had . ❤️❌❤️❌
Dottie and I met working at Almys back in 1966. She worked part time as did I being still in school. She became a very close friend of mine for many years. Spent some weekends at her families cottage at Sebago Lake. She was wonderful to my children when they were younger. We moved away to Florida in 1988 but always made it a point to go see her when we made a trip to New England. She was a wonderful friend and lady who I adored. Rest in Peace sweet Dottie. Love you.
XOXO I remember those days; Thank you Doris for the memories
