Mary E. Nolan

TOPSFIELD- Mary E. (Cranney) Nolan, 77, passed away on April 8, 2020 following a lengthy battle with leukemia and heart disease. She was the loving wife of Thomas M. Nolan with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Peabody on September 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Loretta (McHugh) Cranney. Mary was an extraordinary person and had a positive impact on those who met her, she loved to laugh and to host and attend family gatherings, especially Christmas, Independence Day and birthdays. She loved all of her family and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Mary was a kind listener. There was always a place in her heart for her dear aunts, Kit and Mag, who had such a loving and positive impact on her and her siblings throughout their childhood and well into their adulthood. Mary loved to go out to dinner, especially the former Romie’s and the fun times dancing at the Boat House on Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. She also enjoyed numerous trips to the Caribbean and wonderful trips to Europe. She was a highly thought of associate within the General Electric family as a research chemist. She was involved in the development of fuel cells for the use in the aerospace technology industry for which she was awarded a patent. She was also a quality audit manager at Ametek in Wilmington which was an affiliate of General Electric. Mary had a wit that was direct; a “we need to get to the point” person and problem solver. She was extremely organized and kept lists to keep things on track; clutter was not on her agenda. “Mary was the best friend and loving partner a husband could have, I will cherish all of the amazing times we shared together. Now, as things have changed, everything has to be held together, until one day we meet again. And now she is in heaven, with our yorkie best buds, Oliver and Tyler and all of our loved ones. I know I will see you guys, when my time here is through. Honey, I’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places, all day through, and when the night is new, I’ll be looking at the moon, but I’ll be seeing you. Honey, no more suffering or pain, I miss you and love you forever, Sweetheart.” – Your Loving Husband In addition to her husband, Tom, she is survived by four siblings, Michael (Anne) Cranney, Patrick (Judith Cranney, Brian (Susan) Cranney, Ted (Nancy) Cranney and Lori (Terry) Kline, a sister-in-law, Lois Sneddon and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Joann Murphy and Eleanor Russell. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
