Barbara A. Pyburn

Barbara A. (Stanley) Pyburn, 83, of Danvers, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2020 at the Hathorne Hill Rehabilitation Center. Born in Beverly on October 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edward Stanley and Helen Stanley Pike. She graduated from Holten High School in 1955. She married the love of her life, Richard Pyburn, in 1958. They made their home in Danvers where they raised their two daughters, Judy Mittica of Springfield, VT and Carrie Callahan of Georgetown. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Gerry, her five grandchildren: Joseph, Carissa, Jennifer, Ryan, and Lindsay, and her four great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Natalie, Annabelle, and Jacob. Barbara also leaves her brothers, Paul, Bruce, and Alan, her sisters Donna, Cheryl, and Sandra, and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was the oldest of ten children, and from years of helping out in a large family she learned the best way to raise her own family. She was an accomplished wife and mother. She adored her husband and children and spent her entire life making a happy home for her family. Barbara and Richie built a cabin together in Farmington, NH in the early years of their marriage and then spent many years renting cottages in Maine and New Hampshire where the entire family made many happy memories. Barbara and Richie also had many fun trips traveling the countryside by motorcycle. She enjoyed baking and made the best homemade fudge and cookies around. She also loved to host the best summer cookouts with lots of great food. Barbara was immensely proud of her family. Even when her health declined, she never missed a birthday or holiday, always sending her grandchildren a card with a special little gift. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Resident Council Fund, Hathorne Hill Rehab. Center, 15 Kirkbride Dr., Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Guestbook

  1. I was so sad to read of my cousin Barbara’s passing. Her obituary was a loving tribute to her strong family values. She and my sister Marilyn were close in age and growing up I was more of a tag- along but later in life I enjoyed many wonderful times together with Barbara and Marilyn!
My heart goes out to Richie, daughters Judy and Carrie and their families, sisters Donna, Sandra and Cheryl and brothers Paul, Bruce and Allan. My love and sincerest sympathies to you all.
    Gail Stanley Knott

  2. Richie, Judy, and Cary, we are so very sorry about Barbara’s passing. She was a wonderful person who we will always remember!

    Love,
    Jack & Marcia Pequeno
