Larry Morrison

larry morrison
Larry Morrison, 69, of Danvers and Denmark, Maine, son of the late John and Anna Morrison, died of a heart attack at home on June 6, 2020 with his loving wife of 35 years Joann by his side. Larry was truly a one in a million man who was widely known for helping others. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. An avid traveler, some of his best memories were cross-country road trips to see every rock in America with his family, many Caribbean cruises with his wife and friends and fishing adventures with all of his pals. Larry passed with 39 years and 344 days of sobriety which he said gave him a life second to none. Larry dedicated his life to helping other alcoholics but as an avocation. He proudly retired from the Glaziers Local 1044 after thirty-five years. Larry’s greatest sources of joy were his children and he died very proud of the lives that both have made for themselves. Larry leaves behind so many people that love him including: his wife Joann, daughter Jamie Morrison of Tampa, FL, son Daniel Morrison and his wife Lindsy Morrison of Danvers and grandson Oliver Tex. His other close loved ones included his beloved sister Judy Veilleux, niece/goddaughter Amy Wilichoski, nephew Dennis Morrison Jr., brother John Morrison Jr. and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Dennis Morrison and nephew Mark Veilleux. Visitation for Larry will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Optional Calling Hours for vulnerable populations with underlying health conditions will be from 4-5PM. 12. I am so sorry to learn of Larry’s passing, Joann. Many, many years ago, I had the great fortune to meet you and your family. Little Jamie- so beautiful and full of spirit; and Daniel- toddling around trying to keep up with his sister. I remember Larry coming to pick up Jamie from Denmark Village Nursery School – exhausted from hard work- but his face expressed very clearly how he loved his little girl so! You, Joann, left an indelible impression for me – of what it means to put family first. My prayers for you and your family as you mourn your loss of Larry.

    Gail B.

  13. Larry was the first person to bring out my smile after some difficult years. He had that twinkle in his eye, that smile, those encouraging words. We shared more smiles, laughs, sports, and even a few bites. He always brought out my genuine smile and the best in me. I am so very fortunate to have known and enjoyed his company. Much love to Joann and family. – Tara McKenzie

  14. My condolences and prayers for Joann, Jaime ,Danny , Lindsay and Judy and all of Larry’s family and friends. Larry was a perpetually happy and grateful man. The beautiful and strong marriage Joanne and Larry shared for 35 years has been a power of example to many people in the fellowship. Larry and Joann opened up their homes in Maine and Florida to me and so many other people over the years and always with the spirit of kindness and generosity . Fly High , Larry and keep your eye on that beautiful family of yours .

  15. I have so many Memories of Larry that make me smile! One of my favorites is really a story he told me about someone who didn’t wave back to him on a dirt road. This is very rude apparently and Larry showed his displeasure with a gesture. Well, he took inventory and ended up turning his car around and apologized. He also gave the guy a ride! Larry was so real and down to earth. Blessed to have known him these past 35 years.

  16. Larry took his nephew Dennis under his wing when he stopped drinking. He gave him his first career as a proud glazier with Local 1044 and he gave him rides everywhere. In the fall of 2002 he’d drop Den off at the Danvers YMCA, and that’s when I met my future husband. Thanks to Larry, Den and I now have a family of our own.
Some people are angels as they walk the Earth. They help connect and support people. They seek to find the goodness in people and use their own humility, unaware really, while raising others up. In this case the angel had an infectious smile and fantastic sense of humor too. We are so grateful for our time with Larry, and our sad hearts, love, and prayers are with you Joann, Jamie, Dan & Lindsy and baby Oliver.
    – Linda and Dennis, DJ & Travis Morrison
