Ruth M. D'Entremont

May 11, 1931 ~ May 10, 2021
Ruth Marie (Melanson) D’Entremont passed away peacefully at home and into the loving arms of the Lord on May 10th, after a period of declining health, just one day shy of her 90th birthday.
She was the beloved wife of Robert J. D’Entremont, with whom she shared over 61 beautiful years of marriage and created a family filled with love and blessings.
Ruth was the youngest child born to the late Elizabeth (Bayne) and Ellsworth Melanson, a family of eleven children. She grew up in the Mack Park section of Salem and was a 1948 graduate of St. James School on Federal Street, where she made life-long friendships. It was in that same neighborhood, at Eaton’s Apothecary, where Ruth and Bob first met. They married in 1959 and built their home in Danvers. Here, Ruth hosted many gatherings and created traditions that are now treasured memories. Her greatest joys came from the simple pleasures of time well spent with her loved ones.
Prior to retirement, Ruth was a valued colleague at Masconomet School in Topsfield and the North Shore Technical School in Middleton. Her passion for helping others shone through in many roles in life. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her volunteer work with the Religious Education program at St. Alphonsus Parish. Later, Ruth became a communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers and a member of Catholic Daughters, Court Henry A. Sullivan.
Later in life, Ruth and Bob enjoyed nearly 30 years of retirement together with ample time to spoil their grandchildren and travel throughout the United States and Europe.
Ruth will be remembered for always putting the needs of others ahead of her own, her kind and compassionate nature, and her deep love and devotion to family, friends, and faith throughout her lifetime.
In addition to her husband, Ruth leaves her beloved children: William D’Entremont of Salem, Paul & Kristen D’Entremont of Georgetown, Ann & Kevin Noyes of Middleton, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Zachary & Benjamin Noyes, and Kyra, Julia, & Lindsey D’Entremont. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Melanson of Long Beach, California, her sister-in-law, Ursula Melanson of Norfolk, Virginia, as well as several nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom she adored.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her loving family: William & Stella Melanson, Mary (May) & Greg Manoogian, Elsie Melanson, Edna & Richard Hamlin, Arthur & Marge Melanson, Laurence & Mary Melanson, Charles & Dorothy (Dot) Melanson, John & Mary (Sis) Melanson, Eileen Melanson, and Raymond Melanson.
The family would also like to specifically acknowledge and thank Shirley Barrowclough-Durkee and the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) for the loving care and support given to Ruth that allowed her to stay at home.
Ruth’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Salem. We moved next door to Ruth and Bob 43 years ago. We were blessed to have Ruth’s smiling face and happy countenance sending us greetings when we were outside in the better weather. Lemonade days- yes, we always said we’d share lemonade when the weather turned warmer. And we did!
Ruth was happy to share recipes for the blueberry buckle she loved. Her eyes would dance just mentioning it.
Her laugh was contagious. and she laughed so easily. It is so true that she was devoted to her family…so proud of her children and full of wonderment at her grandchildren’s globe trotting, dancing, and plans.
We feel honored to have shared her stories, love, and joy.
Ruth, you will be missed.
Thinking of you with love and fond memories,
Ralph and Judy Bonnell
I came to know “Mrs D’Entremont” growing up on Bradley Rd and I often ran into her around town. She always remembered me, stopped to chat and was just the nicest Lady. She will be missed by many.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at such a difficult time as this.

I know I speak for all the nephews and nieces when I say our Aunt Ruthie was a very special lady. Our aunt Ruthie always had a smile for all of us. She displayed a loving and gentle spirit that gave us comfort whenever we were with her. And even for those of us who live far away she was always just a phone call away to reassure and comfort us at any time we needed her. Our loss is lessened by all the wonderful memories we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. We were all blessed to have her.

I remember meeting Ruth at Saint Alphonsus Church many years ago. She was so excited to meet my husband and to this day he remembers how she made him feel so very comfortable. I just absolutely adored Ruth. She had such beauty inside and out and I cherish our chats as greeters at Saint Alphonsus and meeting again at St. Mary’s. I will always remember Ruth as a kind, warm soul who truly had nothing but love for everything she did and everyone she met. God speed Ruth. I know you are looking at heaven with child-like wonder and already making friends with everyone you meet. Love you. Judi & Martin
I remember knowing Auntie Ruth mostly over the phone through the years when she would call to talk to check in with us-her warmth & love would always shine through! A few years ago, I had the privilege of staying with her for a week when Dad and I visited. I felt so welcome from the moment we arrived & she made us feel right at home. She was so thrilled to spend time with her “Big Brother” Richard. My favorite times were just being together with her & Uncle Bob every morning in their cozy kitchen. She was always lively, interested in everything and happy to sit and chat. (love that)
My condolences go out to Uncle Bob, Bill, Paul, Ann & the rest of her large family. She left a legacy of love, grace & cheerfulness that will be in our hearts forever.
Aunt Ruth was such a kind , sweet lady. My heartfelt sympathies to Uncle Bob, Ann, Pau, Billy and the rest of the family💕
