Dear Debra and Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn about Bob’s passing this past weekend. I have known Bob going way back to childhood day’s in Danvers as he was my cousin Mike’s best friend.
I really got to know Bob over the past 20 years while hunting and fishing together in Maine and on the Merrimack river. He was a great friend, always had a smile on his face and made us laugh. He was the best story teller and always kept us entertained.
Bob was always prepared for every adventure and eager to share all the gadgets he had accumulated over the past year. I recall a recent fishing outing on our friend Jay’s boat. Bob showed up with 3 large bags of gear and 5 fishing poles.
I said what are you doing with all that stuff, it’s a 4 hour trip not 4 days. Well, about 1 hour into the trip the reel fell off my rod and I wished I had some duck tape. Well sure enough Bob reached into one of his bags, pulled out some duck tape and saved the day.
One late night in November, his friend Mike was overdue on returning to hunting camp.
Bob became very concerned and rallied the other six of us sitting around cabin, to go back into the woods to help locate Mike. Bob even had the camp owner contact the Maine Wardens. Mike was fine, but that’s the type of person Bob was, always looking out for the wellbeing of others.
Bob loved to talk about his family, beloved dogs. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten, during our regular trips to the North Woods.
Please accept my deepest condolences.
