DANVERS- Marie T. Deschamps, 92, passed away peacefully in her home on October 14, 2021, surrounded by her three loving daughters. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Deschamps. Marie was born and raised in Salem, the daughter of the late Gertrude (Ryan) and Ludger Gauthier. After her marriage to Robert, she resided in Danvers for 68 years. Marie was a graduate of Beverly Hospital School of Nursing. While raising her family she attended Salem State College where she obtained a bachelor degree is social services. Marie was always active in the community; she volunteered her time at the senior center in Danvers, and presided as the President of the local Chapter of AARP for many years. She was a communicant at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church. While working at North Shore Community Action Programs, Marie befriended and later sponsored a coworker and assisted her in obtaining her United States Citizenship. Marie loved to travel and started her own small travel business and enjoyed taking many trips. She traveled worldwide with her friends and family. Marie had an active social life which included bowling, card games, attending social gatherings, and crafting. She remained active by walking her grand-dog, Lilly, her best friend. She is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Cheever of Danvers, Janis Chapman of Danvers, Debra Getchell of Florida, her loving grandchildren, Brandon Deschamps of Danvers, Robert Chapman of Randolph, David Chapman and his wife Paula of OK, Jessica Chapman of Abington, and Lindsey Deneve and her husband Daniel of NC, Ryan Kirkey and his wife Amy of ME, Jason Kirkey of Concord and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Bruce, in Dec. 2007, her son Laurence Paul, her loving grandson, Robert Hills Deschamps, in Dec. 2008 and her siblings, L. Jean Gauthier and Mildred Vangelist. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, October, 19, 2021 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marie’s name to the Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
