DANVERS- Richard J. Watson, 98, peacefully passed away on November 28, 2021. He was the devoted husband of the late Virginia (Jones) Watson.
Born in Farmington, MN on May 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Earl and Abbie (Randall) Watson. He was raised and educated in Gorham, Maine. He served our country with the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. As a veteran, he was involved with many round table discussions regarding WWII. He was also invited in 2018 on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Once married, the Watson's moved to Massachusetts. Richard was always involved with his community and enjoyed his time volunteering with the Boy Scouts. He was a skilled woodworker and built a cabin for his family to enjoy in Maine. Richard hiked most of the Appalachian Trail. His other hobbies included square dancing, drawing and poetry.
He is survived by four children, Barbara Watson of Danvers, Stephen Watson and his wife, Marie of NY, Karen Watson of Danvers and Kenneth Watson and his wife, Memie of Beverly, his sister, Grace Sokolik of MS, his grandchildren, Brenda Watson, Janet Berio, Brian, Jessica and Michael Watson, Jenna Switzer and Michelle McLean, his great grandchildren, Carter, Adeliyah, Benjamin, Mia, Mason and Mac.
His funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA, 01843.

So sorry for your loss Ken and Memie. I have met your Dad many times and he always. made me smile. It was fun to see him scoot around town on his yellow wagon and trailer. He was the Best… My condolences to all of the Watson Family.

Please accept my deepest condolences and may the special memories you made together help you through these difficult times. Mr. Watson was such a great neighbor and it was alway nice when he stop to say hi and tell you a story. He will be missed by everyone on Mello Pkwy. I will miss seeing him go up and down the street in is electric cart.
