John P. Walter

SALEM- John P. Walter, 82, passed away on December 15, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Joan (Strout) Walter.
Born in Topsfield on July 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mildred (Bowser) Walter. John was raised and educated in Danvers. He proudly served our country with the National Guard. John had a long career with Stahl Finish, Inc., a leather and chemical factory in Peabody. He also delivered automobile parts for Hawkes for several years. John was a music and Red Sox fan, which lead to his collections of baseball cards and vinyl records.
He is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Donna Walter-Poirier and Paul Poirier of Lynn and Barbara and Scott Meehan of Danvers, his sister, Mildred Clark of Middleton and three grandchildren, Haley Lawnsby, Shane Walter and Kendall Meehan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Helen Lakin, Rebecca Hartman and George Walter.
John’s family would like to thank the Care One Essex Park and Care Dimensions Staff for the exceptional care they gave their father.
His Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021 in the funeral home. The family requests that all attendees wear masks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA, 02452.
