Dorothy M. Loreti, beloved wife of the late Philip “Phil” Loreti to whom she was married for 66 years, died October 11, 2024 at the Kaplan House in Danvers surrounded by family.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, she moved with her family at a young age to Washington DC where she attended Notre Dame Academy and the Anne McLaughlin School for Medical Secretaries. She and Phil moved to Beverly, MA after their marriage, and later lived in Wenham where she raised her children Debra “Debi,” Philip “Tony,” Chris, and Diane.

While there, she joined the League of Women Voters and the Wenham Village Improvement Society. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and although just an average golfer, she did manage to make two holes in one.

Following a move to Danvers, her interests included playing bridge, reading, and meeting new friends but more importantly involvement at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church. She was part of the Bereavement Group, and Sodality, and was always inspired by the daily 9:00AM Mass group. She always felt blessed and surrounded by love of family and friends.

During her time in Wenham and Danvers, she worked for various doctors. Following her employment, she volunteered for SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) and Beverly Hospital for twenty-one years.

She and Phil enjoyed their many winters in Naples, FL where they played golf and enjoyed beautiful weather. Their final years were at Brooksby Village in Peabody.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family Debi Collins of Winter Springs, FL, Tony and his wife Shelley Bertolino of Belmont, Chris Loreti of Arlington, and Diane and her husband Jeffrey Bienkowski of Portland, ME, grandchildren Brenna and Evan Collins of Winter Springs, FL, Luke Loreti of Brooklyn, NY, and Matthew Loreti of Philadelphia, sisters-in-law Maureen Loreti of Beverly and Barbara Hortsing of Ponte Vedra, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews who always stayed in touch.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Phil, her parents, John and Helen Duffy, sister Helen and brothers John, Raymond, and the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Duffy, and her sisters-in-law Carmela Norwood, Ursula Loreti, and Mary Hennessey and brothers-in-law Bernard Loreti and Paul Hennessey, her son-in-law Mark Collins, and baby Elena who always stayed in her heart.

  1. Dorothy was a beautiful person. She was a wonderful wife, a doting, daughter involved, grandmother and mother and her friend to all she met. She was special to her brother Raymond, who predeceased her. We always remember her kindness.
