BOXFORD – James A. “Jim” Wright, 65, passed away on March 19, 2025, following a long struggle with Lewy body dementia. He was the husband of Laurie (Stromberg) Wright with whom he shared 21 years of marriage.
Born in Boston on March 16, 1960, he was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth (O’Halloran) Wright. He was raised and educated in Boxford and graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Jim worked for 31 years for the Department of the Navy as an engineer for SUBMEPP at the Portsmouth Naval
Shipyard, providing maintenance and optimal safety for the US Navy submarine fleet.
Jim and his first wife Brenda (Peachey) built their home in Berwick, Maine, where they raised their 3 children. After Brenda’s death, Jim married Laurie, a childhood friend, and eventually moved back to Boxford. Jim was an avid athlete, excelling in baseball and football, weightlifting, competing in local triathlons as well as finishing 2 Ironman triathlons in Montreal. He was a 3rd degree black belt in
Taekwondo. Jim was a handyman; building things and working with tools as well as renovating houses were hobbies he enjoyed. He always said he could fix anything except a broken heart.
Jim was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a good friend. He always put others first and was right there to lend a hand to someone in need. He brought joy and laughter to everything he did. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of West Boxford. Jim adored his wife and children, they
were his whole world, and there was nothing he would not do for them. He was a kind, gentle, sentimental man who had a heart as big as the sky. Jim has touched the lives of so many and will be truly missed by his family and many friends. May he always have fair winds and following seas.
In addition to his wife Laurie, he is survived by his 3 children: Alex Wright of St Louis, Missouri, Zach Wright of Berwick, Maine, and Jillian Genereux and her husband Jake of Bozeman, Montana. He is also survived by his siblings: Lisa (Orr) of Simsbury, Connecticut, Jenna (Moser) of Hampden, Maine, Dan of
Newmarket, New Hampshire, and Ned of North Berwick, Maine, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Brenda (Peachey) of Middleton.

Charities
The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in James A. Wright 's name.
Jim was one of a kind. A great friend and co-worker for almost 40 years. He would do anything to help someone. He will be greatly missed.
I worked many years with Jim at SUBMEPP. He was a great engineer and a wonderful person. RIP Jim.
I worked and shared a pod space with Jim for many years. Which allowed me to enjoy his annual x-mas taco dip contribution. Even two large bags of taco chips could not consume that bowl of goodness, not sure if Jim invented it, but he sure claimed he did. Miss his enthusiasm and energy; a good friend and partner.
Jim was a great friend, coworker, and family man.
He hung tough through many difficult health issues an had a great attitude about life.
He and I had kids of similar ages and often talked about the challenges of raising them.
He could make a person in a bad mood laugh in an instant.
Jim will be sorely missed.
Jim and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Jim was a great man and a great friend!! He always had a positive attitude on life and he will be greatly missed!!! Love you man💙
Jim, Laurie and I were high school classmates. I was very saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. I have very fond memories of him. A gifted athlete, (with all due respect) a little bit goofy, but also a very fun and friendly guy. We lost touch after high school. I think I only saw him once or twice in the last 45 years, which actually makes my hearing of him being gone a little bit harder. Laurie, Alex, Zach and Jillian, I hope your adjustment to him being gone goes well, and that it\’s only the positive memories you hold onto.
