Richard J. Collins, 98, a lifelong resident of Danvers, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2025, with his beloved wife of 75 years, Fernande (Chalifour) Collins, by his side.

Born in Beverly on August 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Theron and Loretta (Pleau) Collins. Raised and educated in Danvers, Richard honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service, he began his career at the Watertown Arsenal before continuing his work at the Boston Naval Shipyard. He later transitioned to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he retired as nuclear director.

A parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers, Richard found great joy in his faith, his family, and his loyal dog, Bailey. This past February, he and his wife celebrated an extraordinary milestone—75 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Richard leaves behind his loving children: Mark Collins and his wife, Susan, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; Cheryl Aparo of Rockport; Patricia Douglass of Danvers; and Lisa Gasperoni and her husband, James, of Newburyport. He is also survived by his sister, Joan McCarthy of Danvers; his son-in-law, Armand Aparo; 11 cherished grandchildren; and 14 adored great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
