Cumernuch Ronald Vitale, 77, of Beverly, beloved husband of Mary D. (Cormier) Vitale, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025.

Born in Beverly on August 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Stephen and Irene (Douberly) Vitale. Raised and educated in Beverly, he was a graduate of Beverly High School.

Ron began his working life alongside his father at the family business, Vitale and Sons. He was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Seabees and received numerous medals for his service. Upon returning home, he continued a long and dedicated career as a heavy equipment operator with the Local 4 Operating Engineers Union until his retirement.

Ron enjoyed golfing with friends and listening to his favorite music by Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. However, nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

In addition to his wife Mary, he leaves three children: Jamie Vitale and his wife Jeannette of Mendon, Keri Vitale of Beverly, and Stephen Vitale of Beverly; ten cherished grandchildren: Jared, Alexa, Ryan, Jonathan, Jacob, Corinna, Andrew, Amelia, Isabella, and Jaxson; and two great-grandchildren, Bonnie and Gabriel. He also leaves his siblings Mary, James, Kathy, and Debra, along with many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a great man. It was a pleasure to have met him. His smile would light up a room. Sending my condolences to such a wonderful and supportive family.

  2. So sorry to hear of the passing of a dear friend. I will never forget him and the great times we had in San Juan. He, Mary, and company really showed me around. Will cherish those, and all the times together. Brian and Linda

  3. Very sorry to hear of the passing of an old friend and classmate. Prayers for Mary and the Vitale family. Ronnie always had a smile on his face. My favorite memory with Ronnie and Mary was coming back to Beverly in the summer in the mid 70’s and several friends would get on his boat or their own and travel out to the islands. We’d anchor, have a Cape Codder or 2 and as many lobsters as you can eat. Smiling right now because Ronnie kept cooking, making drinks for everyone and we all kept eating. It was like an all you can eat lobster buffet. I’ll always remember that day and the enjoyment Ronnie was having serving everyone up. Drinking a Cape Codder in your honor tonight. Rest in peace my friend.
