Resided in:
Salem, Massachusetts
Charles L. “Chuck” Stricklen, 77, of Salem, passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2025.
Born in Winfield, West Virginia, on May 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Floyd and Lucy (Morris) Stricklen. He was raised and educated in Hurricane, West Virginia, and later earned his degree from Franklin Pierce College.
A veteran, Chuck honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he lived in Maryland for several years before settling on the North Shore, where he made his home for the past 40 years.
Chuck was an avid golfer, often found on the fairways of King Rail Reserve Golf Course in Lynnfield. His happiest rounds were those spent with his grandsons. He also enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Joey, but most of all, he treasured the time spent with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love for his family knew no bounds.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joey Stricklen; his children, Cary Short and her husband Ray of Seabrook, NH, and Jeffrey Bartel and his wife Coleen Magowan of Amesbury; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Danny of Ohio; his sisters, Karen and Carolyn, both of West Virginia; and his special niece, Pam Sonnen of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was predeceased by two daughters, Andrea Stanley and Jennifer Bartel.

He adored Auntie Jo and she loved him more than life itself. To say he will be missed is a huge understatement!
