Born in: Boston, Massachusetts
Resided in: Danvers, Massachusetts

Patricia A. “Patty” (Meara) Cappello, 74, passed away suddenly on March 25, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip F. Cappello.

Born in Boston on June 27, 1951, Patty was the daughter of the late Richard and Jean (Coffey) Meara. Raised in Somerville and Arlington, she graduated from Arlington High School in 1969.

Patty devoted her life to her family, raising her daughters in Malden with love, laughter, and unwavering support. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and had a unique gift for making everyone feel seen and valued. Patty lit up every room she entered, with her colorful personality, vibrant fashion sense, and infectious humor. She spoke her mind freely but always with kindness, and her home was a safe haven for anyone in need of love, laughter, or a listening ear.

A lover of music, Patty especially enjoyed blues and rock concerts. She adored the beach, boxing, bowling, video games, and shooting pool. A talented crafter, she made sure nothing went “un-bedazzled.” Her friends and family will remember her wicked sense of humor, her fierce patriotism, and her unwavering compassion for others.

Patty’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her daughters, Michelle and Sherri Caissie of Danvers, Bobbi Caissie of Malden, Jaclyn Walsh and her husband, Colin, of Irvine, California, and Jean Cappello and her fiancé, Eric Fusco, of Amesbury. She will be deeply missed by her grandsons, Nicholas Caissie and Niall Walsh, who brought her endless pride and happiness.

She also leaves her brothers, Richard Meara and his wife, Betty, of Saugus, and Dr. Morgan Meara and his wife, Judy, of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Meara and Arthur McLellan.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will be private. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Deepest sympathy to you and your family
Remember the good times to get through the pain
Losing mom is hard but you are strong

  2. Patty was one of my closest cousins who was only 2 months older than me. During our childhood years, we spent lots of cousin time in Plum Island & during holidays with all the “Coffey” cousins, aunts& uncles, & our Gramp & Nana. Patty was always so much fun & got her spirit from my Auntie Jean & Uncle Dick. Though during our adult lives, we only saw each other at family wakes & funerals, we always found ourselves gravitating to each other, catching up on each other’s families. It was Patty & I who talked for decades about having a family reunion to celebrate our families instead of waiting for the next funeral gathering. Because of that idea, we were fortunate to gather most of our families for the 2014 Coffey Family Reunion. That was a day we all will remember! My heart breaks for all of Patty’s girls & extended family. I know you will miss her so much. She was so strong after Phil passed away, & she held your family together. Patty – Rest In Peace! You will be remembered & missed forever!
    Your Cousin – Linda

  3. Pat, I remember meeting you through our daughters who attended school together. Your laugh was infectious and I loved the way you loved your children and grandchildren. I know you made sure your doors were always open. I know it wasnt easy but you always found a way to make it lt all work out. You will be truly missed. With love and prayers Christine Parshley ❤️

  4. Michelle, Nick, girls and Lexie, so very sorry for the loss of your mother/grandmother. Nick talked so highly of her, I feel like I knew her. Please know that our whole family is feeling your pain and thinking of you all. R.I.P. Patty

  5. My deepest condolences to your family, I’ve known Sherri and Bobbi Ann since we were kids, Bobbi was good friends with my sister growing up. I met Patty several years ago and everything written in this obituary is true!

May she rest in heavenly peace. Prayers for strength, comfort and healing for her children, grandchildren, siblings and all of her loved ones through this very difficult time.

I’m so very sorry for your family’s loss
