Matthew T. Desmond, 70, passed away on April 18, 2026. He was the husband of Teresa (Cochran) Desmond with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

Born in Ipswich on November 11, 1955, he was the son of the late Robert and Cornelia (Gronberg) Desmond. Matt was raised and educated in Ipswich and graduated from Ipswich High School, Class of 1973. Matt graduated from the New England Broadcasting School, and while he ultimately pursued a different career path, his education proved valuable when producing commercials for his own business. He established Oceanside Cabinets, a kitchen and bath design company, demonstrating more than 50 years of expertise in the industry.

Matt also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a communicant of Saint Richard and Saint Mary of the Annunciation Churches in Danvers as well as a past board member of the Danvers High School Band PME.

Matt especially enjoyed spending time with family at his lake house in Maine.

In addition to his wife, Teresa, he is survived by three children, Elisabeth Petersen and her husband Kevin of Maynard, Matthew Desmond of Chestnut Hill and Joseph Desmond and his companion Madylin Perry of Ipswich, his beloved grandsons, Benjamin and Liam and his siblings, Cynthia Quinn and her husband Dennis of Ipswich, Terrance Desmond and his wife Brenda of FL, Francis Desmond and his wife Kathy of Ipswich, Neil Desmond and his partner Rona Fullerton of Hamilton, Daniel Desmond and his wife Deborah of NH, Kevin Desmond of Ipswich and Tim Desmond of FL. He was predeceased by his brother Robert.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Thursday April 23, 2026 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Although, we have known Matt only a short time we found him to be so very kind, caring, thoughtful and loving.
