Arthur M. Delaney, 94, of Danvers, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family following an active and vibrant life and only recent sudden decline. He was the husband of the late Muriel R. (O’Shea) Delaney, with whom he shared sixty-five years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on September 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Dennis and Margaret (Fitzpatrick) Delaney. Arthur was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and later received his master’s degree from Northeastern University.
Mr. Delaney proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Arthur dedicated many years of service to the Massachusetts court system in Salem and then in Haverhill where he retired as chief of probation.
A longtime resident of Danvers, Arthur was a founding parishioner of St. Richard Parish, where he was also a daily communicant. His faith and devotion to family were central to his life.
Arthur was an avid golfer and champion of the Danvers pogo golf league well into his nineties. Annual family summer vacations to Cape Cod in Dennisport forged long lasting family bonds and hold special memory. He took tremendous pride in his yard and was a meticulous landscaper, a hobby and passion he gladly passed along to his children and grandchildren. A devoted fan of Boston College athletics, he cherished time spent with those he loved most and was the proud patriarch of a large and loving family.
He is survived by his children, William Delaney and his wife Mary of Beverly, Kathleen Duggan and her husband Greg Heppner of Wenham, Thomas Delaney and his wife Brenda of Danvers, Frank Delaney and his wife Kelly of Danvers, and Michael Delaney and his wife Caroline of Manchester, New Hampshire; his 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. Francis Delaney and Joseph Delaney.
