Peter M. Dzierzak

Peter “Pete” M. Dzierzak, 73, of Bluffton, SC passed away on August 10, 2023.

He was born to the late John S. and Julia (Tyburc) on October 5, 1949 in Danvers, Massachusetts.  Peter proudly served in the United States Air Force.

Peter played all types of sports during his younger years.  He was drafted by the New York Mets after high school, in the late 1960s.  Pete spent Spring training catching for Nolan Ryan, before he was released.  He was the President of the Polish Club in Danvers, MA for 12 years.  Pete was a proud member of the Elks in Beverly, MA for 55 years.  He spent the majority of his working career as a truck driver.

Pete married Diane (Turcotte) Gruntkosky at Las Vegas, NV on May 9, 2005.  Together, they moved to Sun City (SC) in 2021 so they could enjoy the beautiful weather and Pete could play golf.

Survivors include:  wife, Diane Gruntkosky; three children, Brad Dzierzak (Leigh) and their children Macyn and Preston; Patrick Dzierzak (Erin) and their children John and Ryan; and Jeff Dzierzak; his siblings, , Theresa Diorio, Patricia Zelano (Rocky), Joann Newman (Henry), Robert “Butch” Dzierzak (Debbie); two step-children, Jason Gruntkosky and Toby Gruntkosky (Lisa); sisters-in-law Priscilla and Ellie Dzierzak; brother-in-law, Dean Turcotte (Annette); numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  His siblings Lorraine Albiero, Victor Dzierzak, and Raymond Dzierzak are deceased.

Peter was a “gentle giant” and will be remember for his kindness, thoughtfulness and friendship.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 at 11:30AM in Annunciation Cemetery, 155 Hobart St., Danvers.  A celebration of Pete’s life will follow at 12:30 at the Polish Club, 12 Cheever St., Danvers.  In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to the Polish Club Scholarship Fund, 12 Cheever St., Danvers, MA 01923.  To share a message of sympathy with the Dzierzak family, please visit www.LyonsFuneral.com.
