MaryBeth (Malvitch) Lyness, 72, passed away on June 10, 2026, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House. She was the partner of Bill Creesy with whom they shared over 25 years together.
Born in Danvers on August 27, 1953, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Innis) Malvitch. MaryBeth was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School in 1971. She found fulfillment in her career as a recreation director for people with special needs. She cherished time with family and friends and loved being outdoors, especially walking on the beach, gardening, and traveling. A devout Christian, she believed deeply in the Holy Spirit.
In addition to her partner Bill, she is survived by her daughter Jennifer Fleming, her grandson Brock Fleming and siblings, Barbara Raymond, Jeanne Dionne, Susan Parker, Lorraine Chenery and Paul Malvitch, and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Milbury and brothers Dean, John, Harold and Edward Malvitch.
Mary endured a courageous fight over many years battling the complications from diabetes. Mary’s family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Bill Creesy, her longtime companion for his love, understanding, care, direction and never-ending devotion.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, June 15, 2026, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St, Danvers, MA, 01923. The burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in MaryBeth’s name to the American Diabetes Association at https://diabetes.org/ or the Northeast Animal Shelter at https://northeastanimalshelter.org. I am so sorry for your loss of such a bright and positive person. She was the lifelong friend of my Mother (Kathy Armstrong Bannon), and our family has many fond memories of Mary. I am forever thankful of her visit to my Mother at the hospice house just before my Mother’s passing. She gave her such comfort, reminiscing about their activities over the years. May she rest in peace…
