George A. Bannon Jr., 74, of Danvers, died Monday evening, August 24, 2026. He was the loving husband of the late Kathleen M. (Armstrong) Bannon.
Born on April 18, 1952, he was the son of the late George A. Bannon Sr. Raised and educated in Danvers, George was a 1970 graduate of Danvers High School.
For many years, George was employed at the General Electric River Works plant in Lynn. In retirement, he found a second home at Conner’s Farm in Danvers, where he worked with the farm’s CSA and became a familiar face at the popular apple cannon. More than the work itself, George treasured the friendships he formed there. His relationships with his colleagues and the many customers he came to know meant a great deal to him and made his years at the farm an especially happy part of his retirement.
One of George’s proudest memories dated back to his younger years and Danvers American Little League. In 1969, he served as an assistant manager of the All-Star team that advanced to the Massachusetts State Championship. His connection to that remarkable team and the memories of that season remained a source of great pride throughout his life.
George enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Kathleen, especially their vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee and in Aruba. At home, he was an avid gardener who took great pleasure in tending to his yard. He enjoyed hosting his family’s annual Labor Day cookout, a tradition he proudly carried on from his father.
He leaves two daughters, Heather Bannon of Danvers and Hollie Favazza and her partner, John, of Ocala, Florida, as well as numerous in-laws and many dear friends.
