Albert R. Jaras

PEABODY- Albert R. “Al” Jaras, 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 23, 2021 in Beverly Hospital. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Martel) Jaras with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Melrose on June 27, 1931, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Marie (Lutus) Jaras. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1949. Patricia and Al moved into their home as newlyweds in the Brooksby Farm area, which they loved and had resided for the past 65 years. He served our country as a Corporal for the United States Army during the Korean War. He was drafted on his 21st birthday and sent to Ft. Knox, Kentucky for basic training and then sent to Hokkaido, Japan for two years before returning home. He graduated from the National Radio Institute in Washington D.C. on the G.I. Bill. He had been employed for 44 years with J.W. Daly of Lynn, which became Cardinal Health in Peabody. Al was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He was never judgmental. He loved his family and friends that he grew up with and he remained close with Frederick Cole and Jack Marr for all their years. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Jaras of Georgetown and his daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Thomas St. Pierre of Peabody, his beloved grandchildren, David Jaras and his wife, Brooke of Georgetown, Nicole Jaras of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and Edward Helinski and Bertha and Louis Helinski. His visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. All other services are private.
