Albert S. DePiero, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Danvers on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. He was the loving husband of Anne L. (Akus) DePiero, with whom he shared fifty-five years of marriage. Born in Dorchester on May 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Severino and Clelia (Bidinost) DePiero. He was raised in Beverly and was a 1959 graduate of Beverly High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University. Al began his career in finance with General Electric in Lynn and Raytheon in Wilmington. He then had a career of over thirty years with the Gillette Company, where he made many dear friends and even after twenty years of retirement, still enjoyed regular gatherings with former colleagues. During his years with the company, Al served as the controller of several divisions and subsidiaries of the global company, travelling to over forty countries. A longtime Danvers resident, Al was a parishioner of Saint Richard Church and was active for many years with the La Salette Faith Community. He enjoyed working around the house, always eager to take on a project. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and looked forward to the extended DePiero family gatherings. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Stephen Albert DePiero and his wife Cecilia of Greenville, SC and Matthew C. DePiero and his wife Denise of Medfield, a son-in-law, Brian Ward of Medfield, nine grandchildren, Colin and Madison Ward and Julia, Nathan, Claire, William, Connor, Carter, and Jill DePiero, a sister, Diana Remare and her husband Jack of Beverly, and a loving extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lauren Ward. Acknowledging the current concerns and uncertainties related to the coronavirus outbreak, the family has reluctantly decided to not offer visitation hours but instead invite all to his funeral mass on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
