Alice A. Shaughnessy

Alice A. (LaFreniere) Shaughnessy, 80, died early Thursday morning, May 5, 2016 at Beverly Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Paul G. Shaughnessy, with whom she shared fifty-six years of marriage. Born in Revere on July 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret (McCarthy) LaFreniere. She was raised and educated in Revere, graduating from the Immaculate Conception High School, and had been a Middleton resident since 1965. Alice devoted her life to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves her children, Thomas Shaughnessy and his wife Kathy of Florida, Erin Mitchell and her husband Robert of Peabody, Paul Shaughnessy Jr. of So. Boston, Patrick Shaughnessy and his wife Linda of Medford, and Kerry Normand and her husband Daniel of Beverly, her grandchildren, Thomas, Kasey, Liam, Grace, Remy, and Lane, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Arlene, Elmer, and Francis LaFreniere and Larry Gillespie. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:30AM in Saint Agnes Church, Boston St., Middleton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s name may be made to the Friends of the Middleton Council on Aging, P.O. Box 855, Middleton, MA 01949.
