Andrea J. Daley, 86, the devoted wife of Michael A. Daley, passed away on December 31, 2025, following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Danversport, she was born in Peabody to the late Andrew Dabose and Sophie (Makowiecki) Dabose.
A beloved educator and mentor to many, Andrea’s gift for guidance and inspiration touched the lives of many students and countless others in the local community seeking her direction and counsel.
Andrea was a 1957 graduate of Holten High School, and pursued her education at Salem State College. Having earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Education from Salem State, Andrea spent 39 years teaching in the Town of Danvers Public School system where she was admired for her teaching methods and unwavering commitment to her students. She was recognized for her dedication to her students by being inducted into the Town of Danvers Educational Enrichment Partnership (DEEP) Hall of Honor.
Andrea also dedicated her life to various civic endeavors for the Town of Danvers including being a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Town Meeting member for 40 years, and the River Committee.
She is also well known for advocating for numerous community causes throughout her civic career, most notably her involvement in helping to persuade The Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline to have minimal impact on citizens’ properties in the placement of the company’s natural gas pipeline through the Danversport neighborhood. In addition, Andrea was well known for creating tributes to long-serving Danvers Public officials.
Andrea is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 64 years, Michael. She is also survived by her two sons, Michael Daley Jr., and Douglas Daley and his fiancée Thuy Le; her sister, Dianne Dabose; sister-in-law Laura Dabose; her nephew Andrew O’Connell and niece Jessica O’Connell; close family friends, Kevin Brophy, Louis George and his wife Ellen Dempsey, Richard and Nicki McGrath, Babs St. Pierre, Gary Santarella, and Pam Trentini.
Andrea was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Dabose, and her brother, Paul Dabose.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00a.m. in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Sorry to hear of Andrea’s passing. She has always been a strong advocate for the Town of Danvers. Andrea always was the first person to step up to advocate for her neighborhood. I, also, remember how she almost single handily brought back the 8th grade graduation ceremonies. She will be deeply missed.
