Anne L. Hovey

Anne L. (Fontaine) Hovey, 85, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late Lewis R. Hovey.
Born in Salem on Aug. 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Cecile (Lemieux) Fontaine. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. She went on to study music at the New England Conservatory.
Anne was self-employed as a music teacher for many years. Additionally, she was a soloist at several area churches including Saint Mary of the Annunciation and Saint Alphonsus in Danvers, and Saint Mary Star of the Sea and Saint Margaret in Beverly.
A communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, Anne was a member of Our Lady’s Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed painting, crafts, and spending time at the Danvers Senior Center.
She leaves a son, Mark Hovey of Wenham, a daughter, Suzanne O’Kane and her husband Eamonn of Danvers, her grandchildren, Caroline Morgan and her husband Jonathan, Chas Manzi, and Eamonn O’Kane, a brother, Robert, a sister-in-law, Jeannine Fontaine, and several nieces and nephews.
Anne’s family is grateful for the outstanding care she received during her illness at Masconomet Healthcare.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in North Beverly Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s name may be made to the Friends of the Danvers Council on Aging, 25 Stone St., Danvers, MA 01923.

Anne was a special friend and I enjoyed sharing art classes with her. She was very proud of her family and loved talking about their accomplishments. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
