PEABODY- Bernard M. “Bernie” Mahoney, 73, passed away on December 20, 2016. He was the devoted husband of the late Sandra A. (Jackson) Mahoney with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Malden on May 22, 1943, he was the son of the late Bernard and Edith May (Sherman) Mahoney. He was raised and educated in Everett and attended Everett High School. Bernie had been employed as a second generation local seven ironworker for many years in Boston. He went on to start his own trucking company B. Mahoney Trucking, were he was the owner and operator. Bernie enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family. His family always came first. He is survived by his son, Michael Mahoney of Peabody and his daughter and fiancé, Rená Carr and Christopher Taylor of Peabody, his grandchildren, Rachael and Michael Carr and Rosalie and Brandon Mahoney, his brother and sister-in-law, Halben and Esther Mahoney and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bernie’s name to a charity of one’s choice.

  2. I don’t have a specific memory, but many memories of his laughter and smile and how good that made me feel. With cousin Bernie, in any interaction we shared, he engaged with me with the kind of sincerity, genuiness and familiarity that provides a comfort and comes from familial ties. Warmth and Laughter. That is how I will remember Bernie. Gone to soon. Love and prayers.
