Charlotte J. Martin, aged 95, passed away on February 6, 2026, at Herrick House Assisted Living in Beverly.
Born in Lynn on April 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Miriam (Stuart) Martin. Charlotte grew up and attended school in Lynn, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1947. She continued her education at Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, earning her degree in 1951, and later obtained a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University. Charlotte worked as the charge nurse in the operating room at Massachusetts General Hospital for four decades.
Charlotte had a passion for traveling and was an enthusiastic swimmer. She also enjoyed painting and gardening.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Martin of Lynnfield; her nieces and nephews and their spouses, David and Carol Galvin, Judy and Steve Kochilaris, Beth and Ron Boucher, Patricia Purdy, Barry and Laurieanne Galvin, Debbie and John O’Donnell , Denise and Billy Surette, Anne and Rich White, Kevin and Janet Foley, Michael Foley and Karen Polinsky, Paul and Brenda Foley, David Foley and Carlos Veloso, Jean Foley and Russ Cowart; as well as several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Barbara Foley, Stuart Martin, Mary Galvin, Joseph Martin, and her nephew Brian Foley.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026 in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly. The burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte’s name to Macular Degeneration Association at https://macularhope.org/ and Arthritis Association at https://info.arthritis.org/donate-today/.
