Christopher Patrick Burge

May 12, 1986 ~ November 4, 2017
DANVERS- Christopher Patrick Burge, 31, another beautiful life taken too soon by depression and addiction.
Christopher will not be defined by his addiction, but rather by his years of loving life as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. We can only hope Chris knew how much he was truly loved…through the good and the bad times we supported his fight for recovery in every way we knew how. We have learned the hard way that no amount of love can cure this illness.
He worked as a machinist at Boston Centerless for the past 2 years. In his free time he enjoyed playing basketball, amongst other sports, and if the weather was hot, you’d find him near the pool or the beach. Christopher was a friendly and charismatic person who always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends.
Christopher leaves behind his mother Donna (Slingsby) Burge, his brother Ryan Burge of Attleboro, grandfather George Burge of Danvers, grandmother Patricia Slingsby of Rye, NH, aunts and uncles; Richard & Jean Slingsby of Manchester, NH, Susan and Raymond MacFarlane of Salem, MA, Diane Little of Salem, MA, Ellen and Jimmy Miller of Hampton, NH, Margaret and John Carlson of Danvers, as well as cousins and friends. Christopher was pre-deceased by his father Kevin P. Burge, grandfather Richard O. Slingsby and grandmother Carol Burge.
His Funeral will be held at 10AM on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8PM in the funeral home. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Christopher’s name to ‘Learn2Cope’. www.learn2cope.org.

One of the things I remember most about Chris was his personality. He was always polite & personable every time I saw him. He would always take a moment to greet my husband or I. I also remember how all the younger boys (Ryan’s friends )would look up to him because he was such a great athlete & older Brother.. He would often be seen practicing with the boys & showing them how good they could play one day when they got older . Chris will live on in many memories for many people for he was friendly & a great individual. Rip Chris . With love, Gail Corliss & Family

Donna & Ryan,
We are all so sorry, I’ll always remember Chris and the way he was out helping the younger kids in soccer and lacrosse, especially working with Drew at the lacrosse clinic when he was just starting out.
Remember all the smiles.
