Donald J. Morey

July 3, 1945 ~ December 6, 2016
DANVERS-Donald J. Morey, 71, passed away on December 6, 2016 from injuries sustained following a fall at his home. He was the husband of Gail (Earley) Morey with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Born on July 3, 1945 in Waterbury, Connecticut, he was the son of the late D. James and Helen (Maifarth) Morey. Don was educated in Danvers and had been a resident for many years.

Don loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his five grandchildren. He had been a member of the Polish Club and attended Holy Trinity Methodist Church with his wife, Gail.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Dawn Morey and Erich and Jessica Morey all of Danvers, five grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Molly, Michael, Grace, Evan and Brooke, two great grandchildren, Harper and James, his sister Susan Morey and her husband, Paul Bruhm of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

To Gail, Jason, Erich and the Morey family,
I would like to offer my sincere condolences. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss.
Don had one sib, an older sister, two and a half years older. That is me, Susan or Sue.
He was a great brother, full of adventure, kind to a fault, willing to learn a trade and work hard. His family of origin was small, and often distant. He made a new family of friends! He made a go cart out of an old lawnmower. He collected snakes from our mother’s garden, for which she paid him. He would take the snake to the nearby swamp, then sneak it back in her garden, only to be…scream…found again by our mom, only to be rewarded again for getting rid of it. Entreprenurial from the start. We were close, for a brother and sister. He certainly was all boy, while I chose the route of a goodie-two shoes. Yet, we shared a lot of common ground. Fairly recently, he and Gail bought a winter place only an hour from us and we got to spend a lot more time together. I sure loved him! A great brother, lovingly remembered always.
I met Don in Florida at Paul & Sue Boehms. I laughed til my cheeks hurt an thought how lucky I was to have this man as part of my extended family. My prayers for the family may God’s Grace and Mercy be yours.
Gail, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult time. Don’s legacy will live on through his beautiful grandchildren. Rest in peace Don Morey.

Donny and I met so many years ago through boating and shared so very many great times.
A true gentleman and a man I could always count on. Donny came to visit Lisa and I a year ago just to reminance our times together and I had a wonderful phone conversation with him talking bout the “old days”. I guess I just felt Donny would always be around and while he may not physically be here now he will always be with me.
My heart and prayers to Gail and the boys. Rest in Peace Don and God Bless.
