Doris Farrell

DANVERS- Doris Farrell died peacefully on November 14, 2017 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old.
She was born, Doris Fortin on July 18, 1931 and was raised in Salem, along with her twin sister, Dorothy. Doris attended and graduated from Salem Vocational High School. In 1959, she married John Farrell and lived the rest of her life in Danvers. Throughout the years, she was employed at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Beverly; Saint Mary of the Annunciation School, Betty Ann Sub Shop and GTE Sylvania, all in Danvers.
Doris was an avid Boston sports fan, attending her first Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park in 2011, at the age of 80. Besides her work, she always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, shopping at Ann & Hope and Kohls, watching “QVC”, cleaning her house, eating ice cream and hanging out at home with the family dog, Joey.
Those who will dearly miss her include; her daughter, Susan Farrell Shell of Danvers, granddaughter, Danielle Shell of Charlottesville, VA, her son, David Farrell and daughter-in-law Denise Harrington of N. Hampton, NH and 5 more grandchildren, Kelsey, Michael, Marybeth, Maggie and Caitlyn, all of N. Hampton, NH.
Other devoted family members include; brother-in-law Paul Zocco of Beverly, sister-in-law, Irene Farrell of Jacksonville, FL, nephews, Paul, Philip and Richard Zocco, Rick, Peter, Steven, Charles and Kevin Farrell and their families and nieces, Marion Carr, Ann Marie LeBlanc, Kathy Armstrong, Kathy Eisen, Nancy Francis, Jade Gauthier, Kristen Weinhold and all their families.
Doris was predeceased in death by her husband, “Jack”, infant son, Michael, wonderful sister Dot Zocco and her nephew, Peter Zocco, along with her own parents, Augustine and Rene Fortin.
During the past year, Doris made many new friendships and special memories with the “Visiting Angels”, a local elder care service agency who came and spent time with her at home.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-8PM on Friday at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris’s name to Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or Big Brothers Big Sisters, 75 Federal St., Boston, MA 02110.
